The system that can be freely used at the same time for DC power which was produced from the renewal energy of solar power and AC power of a power company, that is “PERSONAL ENERGY.”

Mechanism of general storage battery

The most important thing when using a storage battery is interconnected operation with an electric power company. This means that the main power supply is an electric power company, and the back up power supply is a storage battery. Electric power which is generated by solar power generation cannot freely be taken in a general storage battery because of the safety standards and approved standards of an electric power company. Also, the electric power cannot freely be used due to the restriction of output, etc.

Typically, the purpose of a storage battery introduction is economic effects and emergency power supply. However, since the performance and usage is limited, it is a reality that the expected effect cannot be obtained.

Usage of storage battery at the time of disaster

In case of power failure due to a disaster, it can be used as an emergency power supply by the autonomous operation mode which is equipped to the storage battery. However, there will be a significant limitation to the usage as shown in the figure.

Day time Since discharge and charge is not available, it needs to rely on the autonomous operation of solar power.
Night time Electricity that was charged by solar power during a day can be used. However, output is about 1-2kW (use of 200V equipment is not allowed), and the amount of consumption remains in about 4-5kW.

A storage battery is required to have a battery life for a long term use. For a general storage battery, deterioration will accelerate by the depth of discharge from the charging (charge and discharge area). Personal energy adopted olivine type phosphoric acid iron lithium ion battery and performed a cycle test in charge and discharge area of 0%~100% More than 10,000 times of battery charging and discharging was achieved even under the severe condition. As a result, full charge by 100% of the depth of discharge and one-time use becomes available. This is strength that has become feasible by own BMS.

A storage battery is often used as an emergency power source when the time of a disaster. That is why it is a resistant to a disaster, and it is necessary to select a battery which does not cause secondary disaster. In personal energy, a lithium ion battery that uses olivine type phosphoric acid iron lithium ion battery which is stable in molecular structure has been adopted. The olivine type phosphoric acid iron lithium has been used for the positive electrode material, and separation of oxygen is less likely to occur even at a high temperature of 800 ℃ and is a stable storage battery due to the strong binding of phosphorus and oxygen. In severe testing of nail stabbing, short, and pressure immerse, the ignition and explosion due to the thermal runaway do not occur, and it can be said that it is safe. In addition, more than 14 tests, such as combustion test and soaking test, that assume a harsh condition has been conducted, and it considers a safety.
